Here is another update on my Project Life album. This video shows weeks 7 – 9.
Enjoy!
Here is an update on my Project Life album. This is weeks 4-6. I hope you enjoy watching it.
Today I am excited to share a new decoration I made for the wall in my master bedroom. I had watched a couple of videos on YouTube of other creations that people had made using the 7 Gypsies printers trays. You can get these at local craft or scrapbooking stores.
I wanted to make one to match the colors in my room. I forgot to take a picture of the wall hanging but you can forward to near the end of the video to see it completed.
I’m not sure if this is the kind of video you will enjoy or not but I thought I’d post one and see how it goes. The following is a video of some wonderful new scrapbooking products I purchased. I hope you enjoy it.
What is it?
Project Life is a scrapbooking/photo album project created by Becky Higgins. You can find out more about it here. There are many different ways to customize it for yourself but basically you take a picture a day for an entire year and then put them into a photo album.
It is a way to document your everyday life. The albums are as varied as the amount of people creating them.
I choose to try to take a picture a day but if I end up with several for the week then I am happy. Sometimes I scrapbook one picture of an event and sometimes several for the week.
What I love about it!
I am a scrapbooker. I traditionally make 12×12 layouts. What I love about this project is that I can document the everyday things that normally I wouldn’t want to devote an entire layout to. My son making hamburgers for the first time, the cool train passing through town, the amazing pillows I found and fell in love with at the store. You get the idea.
I am planning on posting videos here on my blog showing my Project Life progress for the year. If you are doing it too then please leave a comment so we can all see your books as well.
If you have any questions please ask. I love to talk about scrapbooking. Here is the video, I hope you enjoy it!
I am so excited about this album. I haven’t scrapbooked anything in awhile and felt the urge to do something. I had been watching some videos on YouTube and was inspired to try making a mini album.
I purchased a precut shape album from Kaiser Craft and decided to use it as a mini wedding album for my husband and myself.
I hope you enjoy the video!
A couple of weeks ago the great folks at My Memories Suite offered to give away a download of their very popular digital scrapbooking software to one of my lucky readers.
The drawing was today. Here is a picture of my hunky assistant drawing a number for the winner.

Hi guys! Let me ask you a question up front. I get serious points for being brave and posting pictures of my mess right?
I cannot believe I am posting these.
Well, here is my lovely scraproom. I used to have a huge room about 16×24. It was really big and I had it perfectly laid out. Then my parents had to move in with us for awhile. Due to their disabilities I knew they would be taking up the entire downstairs and knew that my boys would need a place for their video games and just to hang out and watch tv. That was the end of my scraproom. I moved everything out and made it a game room for my kids.
Now this created a huge mess. Everything that used to be in that huge room had to now find a spot in my office. My office is very large for an office but was not ready to accomondate all of my scrap stuff.
It has been challenging trying to figure out the balance between my office and scrap stuff. I have an online business selling products and it is quite busy. This means my office gets alot of use. That kind of leads me to these pictures.
You can see my scrapbook stuff in the background but covering the whole floor is business stuff.
My scraproom got even worse after these pictures were taken.
Did I mention how good I am at piling things up? Not a flat space to be seen.
Ugh, wanna come help me clean and organize?
I am giving myself until August 25 to clean this place up. I will post updated pictures then, even if I am not finished. Wish me luck!
I was recently contacted by the makers of My Memories Suite digital scrapbooking software. They asked if I would be willing to try out their product and review it for you guys. I haven’t done any kind of digital scrapbooking prior to this so I jumped at the chance.
Digital scrapbooking has always interested me but I just never took the leap. Let me tell you how things went. First, I downloaded the software off their website. The download went super smooth and was so easy to do. The software is available for PC and Mac, which is a huge bonus for me.
After I downloaded the software I was immediately able to work on a project. You can use one of their preloaded templates/albums or make your own from scratch. The software comes with thousands of papers and embellishments. You can also go to their site and download designer kits, some for free and some for a very small cost. These look amazing and I cannot wait to purchase some. I downloaded a couple of the free items so I could see how to use them.
This page is one I did with the downloaded paper pack. It is super simple but that’s the point isn’t it? This page was done in about 2 minutes.
This page is using one of their preloaded templates. I just had to double click and add my pictures where I wanted them. Seriously, it is as simple as that.
I love the look of this collage. It is simple and without any decoration but that let’s the photos be the star.
Here is another simple page using one of the preloaded templates. You just double click to add photos and journaling. I love how easy this is.
This last one I added a different background color. Again, it was as simple as clicking a button and it was done.
There is so much more that this software can do. I really only touched the very tip of the iceberg so to speak. You can add audio and video. You can make an album and have it printed into a book. You can share the pages with family and friends. You can burn your own dvd and you can even send your pages to a printer (personal printer or online supplier) and put the pages into your own scrapbook.
I am looking forward to continuing to use this software and getting better and better at it. I have seen some beautiful layouts done using My Memories Suite 2.
Now on to two very important pieces of business. First, My Memories Suite 2 is giving away a copy of this program to one of my lucky readers. Yep, you heard me right. You have a chance to win this program for free ($39.99 value).
You can earn several entries into this contest. First, you can earn an entry by leaving a comment on this post. You can earn a second entry by visiting My Memories Suite , looking at the digital scrapbooking kits and leaving a second comment on this post stating which kit you like the best. You can earn a third entry by becoming a follower on my blog if you are not one already.
This is a great opportunity for an awesome program. The giveaway will run until Monday August 15th. A winner will be chosen on that day.
I have a second opportunity for you. If you are interested in purchasing this program then you will want to pay attention to this. My Memories Suite is offering my viewers a $10.00 discount off the retail price of this software. That is a 25% discount. Wow. All you have to do is go to the website http://www.mymemories.com/ and add this to your cart. Use coupon code STMMMS81950
I don’t know about you but I like to receive cards in the mail. It doesn’t matter if they are store bought or handmade, I just love getting a surprise in my mailbox. It’s always nice to receive a birthday or Christmas card but there is something extra special about receiving a card just because.
I have not been the best about sending cards out to people. Sometimes it’s been laziness, sometimes it’s because I forget and sometimes it’s just because I am so busy that I feel like I just don’t have the time. Wow, those are all bad excuses. How easy it is to make someone feel loved and special. A simple card. That’s it.
One of the many things I am aiming for is being more intentional with my time. I have decided to add to my list to be more intentional about sending people cards. That brings me to the point of this post.
Whether you like to make your cards or buy them from the store we all need a place to store them. To me there is just something fun about a pretty box. It just makes me happy knowing my cards are stored in a nice place and every time I get one out to send to someone I get a little smile looking at my pretty box. Maybe I am weird and you are all rolling your eyes at me right now but that’s OK, I embrace my weirdness. :-)
You can see that I just put my cards in the box randomly right now. I do plan on making some dividers for this box to mark sections. Sections for things like birthday, Christmas, Easter, anniversary, sympathy, thinking of you and so on.
I hope this post inspires you to come up with a pretty way to organize your cards. If you are more organized then you may be more apt to send them out. Make someones day, send them a card just because.
